Hanuman who looked at women only as his sister or mother, and whose love for Ram is unparralled anywhere in the world, is truly the most devoted love between any two humans, has been the symbol and deity of manhood for millions of trillions of Indian men for more than two thousand years.
Today, a follower of Hanuman is denigrated as 'gay' in heterosexualised circles of urban India. Which means, the values of Hanuman that the straightest and most macho men proudly followed for all these centuries can severely endanger a man's position in men's spaces today.
That is the degree of oppression of men and their manhood today.
